Float
By Ruth Yasharpour
The image is of you floating A big man Big and strong Big with potential And I wonder I wonder about you floating How you rise to the surface as your thoughts and needs fall out of you like heavy rocks in a little boy’s pockets You walked forward and out of childhood but the little boy, the sentimental one still clutches them , the rocks that are his past and his familiar Falling down into the dark deep abyss I’m watching you and I wonder if you’ll risk going down there to claim them When you surface, when you stand with feet on solid ground will you look at the rocks and ask yourself why Why not let go Let go Just let go and float
